Ideas For A Diorama Posting for May 07

I haven't tried to make a Diorama from a piece of oak and build it up to look like its in a natural setting. I took a picture or two (See next posting as well) to get a good idea.

If you are using a round natural piece of wood like oak or pine from a log just saw it about 1 to 2 inches thick, the diameter (thickness round) of the wood might also play a part as well, just experiment first then you might be able to add on to your scene later if you want a water fall behind your center piece.
Be sure to seal your wood with two coats of Minwax Fast Drying Clear Semi-Gloss Polyurethane, if its a nice sunny day, you can seal the whole thing at once or seal one side and then the other.
The Layout is one of the most important thing to do, use a silver marker or even Decorative Gems to set out the water. I used a piece of coal and a piece of wood to get an idea for a sample layout, I am going to put a crystal field where I have the sliver dots at.
